Portions of Building 67 (Molecular Foundry) were reopened in stages on Thursday. Aug. 9, as Foundry and Lab EHS teams performed walkthrough inspections to identify potential remaining hazards. Water damage was found to be minimal. As of 4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, Building 67 had resumed normal operations except for restrictions in specific labs and offices. More>
Thursday’s personnel accountability drill resulted in the best-ever response rate for the Lab, according to Lab Emergency Manager Tonya Petty. Following text, email, and phone prompts from the LabAlert system, more than 96 percent of the Lab population indicated their work statuses and whether they were on the Lab site or offsite. More>
The California wildfires are increasing focus on fire potential – even in urban areas. The East Bay Regional Park District has issued a fire warning. At the Lab, smoke only in designated areas, and make sure all smoking material is fully extinguished. If you are doing any hot work, be sure to get the proper permits.
Building 67 remained closed this morning as clean up and re-establishment of building systems continued. Portions of the building may open during the day today. Personnel working in the building should contact their managers for instructions. All other buildings in the area have resumed normal operations. At 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 9, all Lab employees, affiliates, and contractors will receive text and email messages, followed by a phone call, from the LabAlert system. Staff are asked to reply to at least one of these messages with their status and whereabouts. The system will continue to notify staff until their status is confirmed.
