Bringing your true self to work is one of the goals of National Coming Out Day, celebrated each Oct. 11. This will be the 30th anniversary of the day, where employees who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer — and their allies — can show their support of our intertwined identities.
“When we know someone who is LGBTIQQA+, we are more likely to support equality, both in our daily lives and in the broader legal aspect.” said Tom Gallant, Program Manager. “Our individual stories can be a powerful way to advance LGBTQ equality, and we know that diversity in people and in thought is vital in solving our challenging scientific problems.”
The Lamba Alliance, the Women Scientists and Engineers Council, and the All Access and African-American Employee Resource Groups are joining together on Thursday, Oct. 11, to support National Coming Out Day. There will be information tables – and snacks – in the entry to the Lab’s cafeteria from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. You can learn more about these groups and sign up for any of the Lab’s ERGs.
