— A message from Deputy Director for Operation Glenn Kubiak

I am extremely pleased to announce that Michelle Scanlon has accepted the Laboratory’s offer to become Berkeley Lab’s new Chief Human Resources and Diversity Officer, effective March 20.  Michelle has proven herself to be a Human Resources (HR) leader who brings extensive experience translating business needs into successful and innovative workforce solutions in support of research and development.  She comes to Berkeley with 25 years of HR experience and leadership, demonstrated at both federally funded and commercial institutions.  She successfully led HR teams during her six years at Sandia National Laboratory/CA where she spearheaded diversity initiatives and played an important HR role in the initial Joint BioEnergy Institute partnership.  Since 2008, Michelle has developed HR strategies across business functions in start-up, mid-size and large technology companies, including Laird Technologies, Broadcom, and Accela, where she most recently served as Vice President for Human Resources and Talent Development from 2010-2016.  Michelle holds an MBA in Human Resources Management from Golden Gate University and a BA from UC Santa Barbara.
Please join me in welcoming Michelle to Berkeley Lab.
