International Journalists Visit Lab on Oct. 29

After more than a year of preparation and coordination, the Strategic Communications office held a Lab tour Oct. 29 for journalists and attendees of the 10th World Conference of Science Journalists, an international gathering held every two years.

This year the meeting took place in San Francisco and was the first time WCSJ was held in the United States. Nearly 1,400 professionals engaged in science journalism from around the country, and the world, attended the conference.

The Lab’s tour provided an opportunity for journalists to explore cutting-edge science as well as crucial issues at the interface of science and society. Nearly 50 tour attendees spent three hours Sunday hearing from Lab Director Mike Witherell and visiting NERSC, the Molecular Foundry, and the Advanced Light Source.

Attendees came from numerous countries including China, Mexico, Germany, France, Greece, Cyprus, Norway, Japan, India, South Korea, and Israel, among others. Go here to see some of the social media content posted by attendees during the tour.
