Volunteers Sought for Rebuilding Together Project at Local Senior Center

Rebuilding Together-East Bay North needs volunteers on Dec. 1 and 2 to help remove and replace the kitchen floor in the West Berkeley Senior Center where the Meals on Wheels program is operated. Volunteers should wear protective shoes and clothes they don’t mind getting dirty. Work runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. A light breakfast and lunch will be provided. Contact George Reskin to volunteer.

    The City of Berkeley has tested the floor in the West Berkeley Senior Center, and there is no asbestos.

    Hopefully the floor isn’t so old that it might have asbestos in it … old “vinyl” flooring (pre 1980 I believe) has a high likelihood of containing asbestos.
