Expanding the Infrared Nanospectroscopy Window

For applications in telecommunication, medicine, and homeland security, scientists want to be able to study nanoscale phenomena that resonate in the far-infrared energy range, like the vibrations of protein molecules or the collective oscillations of electrons.
