NERSC Recognized by NASA for Contributions to Planck Mission

NERSC staff were recently honored with a NASA Group Achievement Award for their high-performance computing support of the Planck Space Mission, which pushed the boundaries of supercomputing as well as cosmology. Over a four-year period, the Planck satellite — a joint project between the European Space Agency and NASA — captured the oldest light in the universe, which was emitted approximately 13.8 billion years ago.
