Thanks for Participating in Yesterday’s Personnel Accountability Drill

Thursday’s personnel accountability drill resulted in the best-ever response rate for the Lab, according to Lab Emergency Manager Tonya Petty. Following text, email, and phone prompts from the LabAlert system, more than 96 percent of the Lab population indicated their work statuses and whether they were on the Lab site or offsite.

“Thanks to everyone who took part,” said Michael Brandt, Deputy Lab Director for Operations.  “While this was a drill, in an actual emergency your quick response can help save lives.”

In a real emergency, responses to LabAlert messages can expedite search and rescue, minimize unnecessary rescue efforts, begin communications with people on travel in regions experiencing emergencies, and reach mission critical personnel.

The drill, coordinated by the Lab’s Emergency Management Department, is part of the Department of Energy’s (DOE) continuity of operations efforts.

The best way to receive LabAlert messages is by cell phone. If you have not already registered your cell phone, do so at
