Lab Partners With Software Carpentry For Coding Bootcamp for Women

Working with the group Software Carpentry, whose mission is to teach researchers basic lab skills for scientific computing, the Lab’s IT Division held a software bootcamp for Women in Science and Engineering. More than 150 women, mostly grad students and postdocs and some from industry, attended the two-day session at the Lab this week, learning about Python, SQL, Git and other software tools that can help them become more productive in their research. Afterwards, the Lab’s Workforce Development & Education hosted a reception to reach out to participants about internship and other educational opportunities offered by the Lab.
