CIO Rosio Alvarez Hosts Reception for STEM Students

Rosio Alvarez, the Lab’s Chief Information Officer, hosted a reception at her home for the Chicana/Latina Foundation, which brought together undergraduates, graduate students, postdocs and recent Ph.D.s along with Lab scientists to discuss educational and research opportunities in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Lab scientists included Susana Gonzalez Fernandez-Nino, Amanda Reider Apel, Lorena Mora Blanco, Eva Nogales, and Dani Ushizima. Alvarez noted: “In order to create greater access and opportunities for women and other under-represented groups in the STEM fields, having role models and engaged mentors throughout your career continues to matter.” All in attendance expressed an interest in having this event serve as the basis for future networking opportunities.
