Former Lab Researcher Poised to Become Mayor of Mexico City

Until three years ago, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo worked as an environmental engineer. Now with a 20-point lead in the polls ahead of the July 1 election, she is poised to become mayor of Mexico City. Sheinbaum Pardo spent four years as a Ph.D. student at Berkeley Lab, comparing energy consumption in Mexico and other industrialized countries.
