Enhancers Regulate Master Gene of Skeletal Development in Mice

Lab bioscientists collaborated on a study to better understand the elements regulating Indian hedgehog (Ihh), which encodes a protein that plays a key role in bone growth and differentiation. They showed that enhancers — snippets of DNA that increases the likelihood of a gene’s expression — work together in tissue-specific combinations to activate genes during development.
