Lab to Lead National Magnet Development Program

The future of high-energy physics colliders will require advanced superconducting materials and magnets. Berkeley Lab has been chosen to lead a national Magnet Development Program headed by Stephen Gourlay, the director of the Berkeley Center for Magnet Technology. The program has an R&D plan based on needs stated by P5 (the Particle Physics Project Prioritization Panel) and the Accelerator R&D Subpanel of HEPAP (the High Energy Physics Advisory Panel). Spinoffs of the work are expected to benefit many other fields. More>
