July’s Artifact of the Month: The Vertical Wheel

July’s “Artifact of the Month” is the Vertical Wheel, used in the experiments leading to the discovery of Seaborgium (element 106). Earlier Vertical Wheels were used in the discovery of elements 104 and 105. Each month, the Lab’s Archives and Records Office features a different historical artifact from the Lab’s collection and invites those with additional information on the item to provide it. Go here for more information on the Vertical Wheel and other Lab artifacts.
