Jean-Luc Vay of the Accelerator and Fusion Research Division’s Center for Beam Physics has been awarded the 2013 US Particle Accelerator School (USPAS) Prize for Achievement in Accelerator Science and Technology, to be presented at the fall meeting of the North American Particle Accelerator Conference in Pasadena. USPAS prizes are awarded every other year to two recipients, one under 45 years old. Vay’s citation reads, in part, “For original contributions to the development of novel methods for simulating particle beams, particularly the Lorentz boosted frame techniques.” His corecipient is former AFRD senior scientist Kwang-Je Kim, now at Argonne.
