Groundbreaking for FLEXLAB Testbeds: Will Test Low-Energy Systems and Components

After a special groundbreaking ceremony on Friday — which included Lab senior leaders and other state and DOE representatives — construction will begin on four testbeds that, along with two that have already started up, will collectively form the exterior portion of FLEXLAB, located adjacent to Building 90. When FLEXLAB is completed late in 2013, researchers in EETD, and its public and private sector research partners, will be able to swap out building components and systems in the modules, and measure, analyze and improve their performance under real world conditions.
