Greta Toncheva will assume management of EHSS’s Laser and Non-Ionizing Radiation Safety programs with continued support from Robert Fairchild, the deputy laser safety officer. Most recently a health physicist at Duke University, where she was a member of the laser safety team, Toncheva also assembled detectors for the Large Hadron Collider at CERN, Switzerland, and worked in Dubna, Russia, at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Reactions. She obtained her master’s degree from Plovdiv University, Bulgaria, specializing in solid-state physics and optical electronics. She brings proven records of excellent customer support and program management ability. Her appointment was effective Nov. 26.
