Columbia University’s Nicholas Dirks Selected as UC Berkeley Chancellor

University of California President Mark Yudof announced last week that he has selected Nicholas Dirks, Columbia University’s executive vice president and dean of the faculty of Arts and Sciences, as UC Berkeley’s 10th chancellor. Dirks, 61, a professor of anthropology and history and the author of three books on India, emerged as the top candidate after a six-month search. Dirks will succeed Chancellor Robert Birgeneau on June 1, 2013. More>
