Berkeley Lab Director Paul Alivisatos has announced that after a very competitive search, Kim Williams has been selected as the Lab’s new Chief Financial Officer. Kim will assume this position immediately.
“Financial management is critical to strategic resource planning and enables us to be effective stewards of taxpayer resources,” said Director Alivisatos. “The CFO plays a key role in making informed management decisions, and I am thrilled that Kim will join the senior management group, helping achieve Berkeley Lab goals responsibly, effectively, and efficiently.”
Williams brings over thirty years of financial, business, and scientific division operations experience to this key leadership position. She is widely respected by her division and across the Lab, and is well known for her outstanding institutional service and leadership on committees and important projects, such as the Financial Systems Modernization project (F$M).
Williams joined Berkeley Lab in 2006 and is the Division Deputy for Operations in the Environmental Energy Technologies Division (EETD). Prior to joining the Lab, she held executive management and chief financial officer positions with financial and academic organizations, including the Pacific Stock Exchange. Her experience also includes leadership of strategic initiatives and management of contracts and grants; business, regulatory and compliance matters, and other operational functions. Williams received her MBA from UC Berkeley.
