Carbon Cycle 2.0 Seminar Today on Electron Microscopy With Vortex Beams

June 14, 2012

Ben McMorran of the University of Oregon and Berkeley Lab’s NCEM will speak at the next Carbon Cycle 2.0 LDRD seminar today at 2 p.m. in Building 15 Room 253. In his talk, entitled “Electron Microscopy (EM) with Vortex Beams Carrying Orbital Angular Momentum,” he will discuss his project’s goal to develop EM capabilities for imaging atomic magnetic moments at atomic resolution and enhancing image contrast of carbon-based materials. McMorran’s group uses electron microscopes as a platform to perform research in quantum optics, computer-generated holography, and interferometry using electron matter waves. More>
