Dear Colleagues,

On Monday, the Associate Lab Directors joined Deputy Director Horst Simon and me to present the LBNL Annual Lab Plan to the DOE Office of Science and DOE Technology Program leadership.  Taking into account broad, long-term trends that we see happening in science, as well as likely future needs of the Department of Energy, the plan is meant to lay out the major goals we can work on together to keep the lab healthy and at the cutting edges of science for decades to come.  I have been communicating with DOE about our major initiatives, and we again received positive feedback from DOE leadership this year.  On Thursday, June 14, in the B50 Auditorium from noon to 1:30 PM, I will present a concise version of the plan that was crafted with the help of Division leadership and Associate Lab Directors, and will take questions from the lab community —all LBNL employees are welcome to attend.
