The Microscopy Society of America has selected Ulrich Dahmen, Director of the National Center for Electron Microscopy at Berkeley Lab, for their 2012 Distinguished Scientist Award for the Physical Sciences. Dahmen develops electron microscopy for nanoscale materials science, pushing the limits of resolution to study atomic-level crystal properties and phenomena. The award recognizes Dahmen’s contributions in the field of microscopy and complements his recent election as an MSA Fellow. This is highest honor given by the Society.
