CREA Lecture on ‘Why Do We Grow Old’ on Monday

The Center for Research and Education in Aging (CREA), a collaboration between Berkeley Lab and UC Berkeley will host its first-ever Paola Timiras Memorial Lecture on Monday, Sept. 12. Speaker Greg Cole of UCLA will discuss “Why Do We Grow Old? The Current State of Aging Research” at 7 p.m. in the 2050 lecture hall in the Valley Life Sciences Building on campus. He will talk about how recent discoveries have shed light on the mechanisms that control the rate of aging. A number of these mechanisms have been tested in experiments and as a result have significantly extended the lives of various organisms. Refreshments and snacks will be served. CREA was founded by Lab researcher Paolo Timiras, who passed away in 2008.
