10 Questions for OCFO’s Laura Sanders

sandersSanders is a procurement subcontract administrator in the Office of the Chief Financial Officer and has worked at the Lab for five years.

Q: What is your proudest moment on the job?
A: When I hear I’ve helped division users procure the goods and services they need, faster than they expected, and was also able to save them some money and give dollars back to science.

Q: What do you enjoy most about working the Lab?
A: The excellent work/life balance and casual dress, and that employees are engaged and empowered. I have been able to learn and grow in so many ways since working here.

Q: What do you hope to accomplish in the future?
A: To keep learning and growing professionally and personally. I’d love to learn how to be more involved in a leadership role of some sort.

Q: Where were you born and/or raised?
A: I grew up in Orange County and moved to the Bay Area when I was around 18, and I consider this my home now.

Q: What is your cultural heritage?
A: Irish and French

Q How do you connect with your cultural heritage?
A: I do love Guinness!

Q: What are your favorite activities outside of work?
A: I enjoy belly dancing, anything outdoorsy, and cooking

Q: Who inspires you?
A: I am inspired by people who are motivated to accomplish their goals. It’s not always easy to realize what it is that you want. But once you know what is, it’s powerful to really focus in on it, work hard at it, and hopefully find that eventually you’ve achieved it all! Then it’s time for more goals.

Q: What are the top three things on your bucket list?
A: Travel more – Amsterdam, Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji

A: Go confidently in the direction of your dreams.
