acordAcord is an industrial hygienist in the Environment, Health and Safety Division, and has worked for the Lab for 14 years.

Q: What is your proudest moment on the job?
A: The successful cleanup of a mercury spill in 2009.

Q: Why do you like science?
A: It allows us to change the world and how we see it

Q: Where were you born?
A: Long Beach, Ca.

Q: What is your cultural heritage?
A: Dutch

Q How do you connect with your cultural heritage?
A: Visiting with my family in Holland

Q: What are your favorite activities outside of work?
A: Spending time with my wife and kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids

Q: Do you possess any unique talents?

A: I know American Sign Language (ASL)

Q: Who inspires you?
A: My wife. She has been through these past few years yet she still sees the world as if she was a child.

Q: What are the top three things on your bucket list?
A: Get my wife to fly in a small plane, climb Mt. Everest, and drive an AA fuel funny car.

A: Abraham Lincoln
